BUS passengers will soon have access to on-board hand sanitiser amid attempts to make public transport safer.
Borders Buses is installing sanitiser pumps across its fleet as the coronavirus outbreak continues.
Customers are already being encouraged to use contactless payment rather than cash, while drivers are equipped with personal protective equipment (PPE).
In a bid to remind passengers to keep their distance from each other, tape is being laid on the floor of vehicles.
A statement on Borders Buses’ Twitter page reads: “We would like to thank our customers for continuing to practice social distancing whilst travelling on our buses.
“We have introduced some distancing lines on some vehicles to make it easier for you to safely move within the bus #StaySafe.”
A company spokesperson added: “We are committed to keeping our communities moving and served during these difficult and uncertain times.
“Delivering a safe and responsible bus service is our number one priority.”
