SELKIRK rugby players have racked up more than 1,000 miles in seven days.

Last Saturday (May 9), Selkirk Rugby Club launched a fundraiser for the local foodbank.

Squad members were tasked with keeping a daily tally of how far they ran, cycled or walked – with a collective target of 1,907km.

Now club coach Scott Wight is toasting victory after a "huge buy-in".

In a tweet posted on Friday night (May 15), he described the challenge as "completed", adding: "Thanks to everyone who has supported so far."

At the time of writing, the club's JustGiving page shows £1,917 from 92 supporters.

The target distance of 1,907km was chosen because the club was founded in 1907.
