A BORDERS school which published an “inappropriate” video on its website has prompted education chiefs to rewrite guidance.
Jedburgh Grammar School was found to have posted a clip containing moments of explicit content, including some sexual references.
Scottish Borders Council (SBC) says the video was removed after a review deemed the material to be inappropriate.
An SBC spokesperson said: “The video link was viewed only a handful of times on the website before it was removed.”
The video, intended to help teach LGBT+ issues and sex education, featured two gay men speaking in a secret language before the decriminalisation of homosexual acts in 1967.
An SBC spokesperson told the Border Telegraph that fresh guidance has been drawn up in light of the clip’s publication.
The spokesperson said: "Jedburgh Grammar has been working closely with LGBT Youth Scotland to raise issues around LGBT+, and the school was proud to receive a bronze LGBT Charter Mark in 2018.
"This work has included a LGBT+ history project which has involved pupils carrying out research.
"As part of this research, a link to a video was uploaded which has since been reviewed and deemed inappropriate, with the video link removed from the school’s website on May 13.
"The video link was viewed only a handful of times on the website before it was removed.
"The council has now changed its guidance for posting content on school webpages."
