A PLANNER has rejected a bid to erect a 5G mast in Galashiels.
EE Ltd wanted to build the 17.5m-high structure at Queen Street, off the A72, with an application having been lodged by agent Harlequin Group.
But a Scottish Borders Council (SBC) planning officer turned down the request on June 12.
In his report, Carlos Clarke wrote the mast would have an “unacceptable and harmful visual impact”.
A total of six households had objected to the plans, according to Mr Clarke.
He wrote that, if the mast were built, drivers on the A72 would find the structure “somewhat overbearing”.
