A COUNTRY store is closing in the Borders, bosses have confirmed.
Carrs Billington has issued a statement amid reports that its site at Dunsdale Haugh, Selkirk, is due to shut permanently.
The company’s managing director said Mark Cole: “The company is undergoing an extensive change programme.
“Following a review of our cost base and structure we plan to close four sites where physical retail does not have a viable future.
“Retail sites in Selkirk, Berwick, Malton and Ludlow will cease to trade on July 10, 2020.
“We are now in consultation with staff at these sites and looking at other opportunities within the company.
“We would like to reassure our loyal customers that we will be retaining a sales presence in these areas and will continue to serve them from other outlets within the company.
“While the closure process takes place Carrs Billington Agriculture (Sales) Ltd will not be making any further comment.”
