NHS Borders staff can be entered into a competition to find Scotland’s best healthcare workers.

Anyone can nominate a health worker for a prize at the Scottish Health Awards 2020.

A range of categories are featured - including “midwife”, “doctor” “nurse” and “unsung hero”.

NHS Borders chairwoman Karen Hamilton said: “The Scottish Health Awards is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the contribution of frontline health and social care workers, as well as highlighting those in support service roles, whose valuable work may not always be as visible.”

The annual awards are run by the Daily Record, in partnership with NHS Scotland and the Scottish Government.

NHS Borders says the competition tries to find the country's "best healthcare workers".

Ms Hamilton paid tribute to staff in the Borders, noting their commitment during the coronavirus pandemic.

She said: “Our staff work hard every day to provide the best possible care and to ensure local health services are the best that they can be.

“They have truly risen to the challenge in dealing with COVID-19.

“From preparing services for the virus reaching the Borders, providing care to those who contracted the virus, continuing to provide urgent care and now planning the steady return of our services, our staff have and continue to work incredibly hard to make sure that people in the Borders have access to the best care and support possible no matter the circumstances.”
