AN electrical explosion on a residential street reportedly saw a part of the pavement come off the ground. 

Fire services responded to a report of an explosion, thought to be caused by a power line on Quarrywood Road in Barmulloch earlier tonight.

A resident of the street told the Glasgow Times: "It blew a part of the pavement up then some fire came out the ground."

It is understood that SP Network is in attendance at the scene and Scottish Power has been approached for comment.

A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that one fire appliance is in attendance. 

Police Scotland also attended the incident in a traffic control capacity, shutting down the North Glasgow street to traffic.
