MUSEUMS in the Borders will reopen soon - starting with the Jim Clark Motorsport Museum.

Live Borders manages museums across the region, but the sites have been closed during the coronavirus lockdown.

This weekend, however, visitors will return to the Jim Clark museum in Newtown Street, Duns.

A new exhibition of artwork will be on display from 10am on Saturday (July 18), with more than 20 paintings featuring.

Live Borders CEO Ewan Jackson said: "At Live Borders, we're beginning to reopen some of our premises in line with the Scottish Government's route map - and we're getting off the grid with the reopening of the Jim Clark Motorsport Museum.

"We're taking a staged approach to the reopening of the museum in order to keep all of our visitors and our staff safe - and we're asking visitors to book tickets in advance.

“Both museum staff and trustees are delighted to welcome people to the museum once again to showcase Jim Clark’s achievements.”

Clark, who grew up on a Berwickshire farm, won the Formula One championship in 1963 and 1965. In 1965 he also won the Indianapolis 500 in America.

Clark, who died at the age of 32 in Germany, is regarded as one of the most talented drivers of all time.
