GALA Fairydean Rovers have re-named the bar in their clubrooms after volunteer Alan Allison.

The new sign's unveiling took place in the clubrooms on Sunday for his 70th birthday.

For almost a decade Alan has manned the bar voluntarily every weekend serving refreshments to members and visitors.

Apart from the current pandemic which forced the closure of the bar from March, he has only missed one shift – a Saturday in May 2016 when he was at Hampden to see Hibernian lift the Scottish Cup.

Gala Fairydean Rovers chairman Ryan Cass said:"Alan is a legend at the club and no-one deserves this more than him.

"With his 70th birthday coming up this week, we felt it was appropriate to re-name the bar in his honour."

The Alan Allison bar reopened last weekend.

Meanwhile on the playing front Gala Fairydean Rovers first team resume training this weekend so they will be fully prepared for the new Lowland League campaign which is expected to get underway at the start of October.
