A MAN with a knife demanded money from a Galashiels shop at the weekend.
Police say the man entered the Premier store, on Scott Street, at around 3.35pm on Sunday (August 2).
The man, who was wearing a mask, threatened the shop assistant with a knife and demanded money, according to police, but he left the store empty-handed.
A police spokesperson said: “A 28-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with an alleged attempted robbery a short time later.
“He is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, 3 August, 2020.
“A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
