ORGANISERS of the Borders Book Festival have announced the final month’s line-up of authors and guests for their online programme.

Guests include food writer and restaurant critic Jay Rayner; Olympic champion cyclist Sir Chris Hoy; historian Neil Oliver; novelist Ken Follett; former war reporter and independent politician Martin Bell; comedian Janey Godley; TV presenter Kate Humble; broadcaster Andrew Marr; and Newsnight presenter Kirsty Wark.

Festival director Alistair Moffat said: “We’ve certainly missed the atmosphere and buzz of Harmony Gardens this summer but the online programme has proved a huge success with our regular audience, as well as bringing new visitors to the book festival from the comfort of their own home.

“We look forward to welcoming everyone back to Harmony Gardens next summer to be together again.”

Comedian Janey Godley is among the guests set to appear in the online festival

The festival events will continue to take place every Sunday, from September 6, with children’s events at 11am and adults’ events at 4pm and 7pm.

There will also be special midweek shows.

Mr Moffat said: “None of this would have been possible without the continued support of Baillie Gifford, McInroy & Wood, Creative Scotland, Saltire Roofing & Building and Scottish Borders Council, as well as our other sponsors.

“We are eternally grateful to them all.”

Events can be watched live for free – and all events from the July and August programme are also still available to view at any time – from the festival website at www.bordersbookfestival.org
