A FURTHER five people have tested positive for coronavirus in the Borders.

Scottish Government figures, published today (Tuesday, September 15), showed the number of new cases recorded in the previous 24 hours.

The Borders has now registered a total of 420 cases since March.

Over the weekend, there were 20 new cases – with 12 of them recorded between Saturday and Sunday.

Border resident are being asked to remember the FACTS to help prevent the spread of the virus:

  • Face coverings in enclosed spaces
  • Avoid crowded places
  • Clean hands and surfaces regularly
  • Two-metre distancing; and
  • Self-isolate and book a test if you have symptoms

Symptoms include a new and persistent cough, increased temperature (37.8C or more) and a change in taste and/or smell.

Tests should only be booked if you are experiencing symptoms.
