SCOTTISH Borders Council has postponed the by-election for Leaderdale and Melrose.
The contest, scheduled following the death of Kevin Drum in March, had been due to take place on October 29.
But now it has been pushed back until Thursday, March 11, 2021.
Returning officer Tracey Logan said: “Taking into account the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions and the limited resources we have in managing both the public health challenges and the demands of a by-election, we have again taken the decision to postpone.
“In line with the relevant legislation this decision has been taken following consultation with Scottish Ministers, the Chairman of the Electoral Management Board and the Electoral Commission.”
The by-election was originally arranged for May of this year, but it was postponed due to coronavirus restrictions at the time.
