A TOTAL of eight new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in the Borders.

Scottish Government statistics show the rise since yesterday (Thursday, September 24).

The latest increase means the Borders has recorded 487 cases since March, with this month’s total being 115 so far.

On Tuesday (September 22), the region recorded zero cases in a 24-hour period – the first time that had happened for five weeks.

Earlier this week, the health board also revealed that the Borders’ case count includes some people who live outside the region, but who got tested here.
