RADIO Borders is cutting four hours of local broadcasting to launch a new weekend sports show.

From next week, presenters Steven Mill and Ewen Cameron will host ‘The Big Saturday Football Show’ from 2pm-6pm.

The station says the new programme will feature "a mix of music sport and entertainment" and will replace Keith Clarkson's slot.

Mill said: “I spend hours of my life watching and discussing football so it is brilliant to have a show where we can do that while playing some of our favourite music and entertaining our listeners.”

It has also been announced Gregor Runciman and Lynsey Gibson will take over the early breakfast slot (6am-9am).

Victoria Easton-Riley, content director at Hits Radio Network in Scotland, said: “Sport is so important in Scotland and discussing and debating the merits and failings of our teams is a national pastime so I’m confident that the new show with the experience, knowledge and chat of Ewen and Steven will be very popular.

“We are also committed to developing local talent and looking forward to Gregor and Lynsey having their own Saturday Morning Show.”

The new weekend line-up will also include Stuart Webster on a Saturday playing songs from noon until 2pm.

And presenter Micky Gavin will be on air every Sunday from noon until 4pm.
