A NEW coronavirus death has been reported in the Borders.
According to the National Records of Scotland (NRS), a person who died between October 19-25 had COVID-19 mentioned on their death certificate.
The official data, published by the NRS today (Wednesday, October 28), does not state whether a death has occurred in a hospital, a care home or in a person's home.
The latest Borders death is the first in the region for three weeks. In the week beginning September 28, two deaths were recorded and before that there was one death between August 24 and 30.
Since the pandemic began, there have now been 78 deaths in the Borders.
Deaths were regularly announced between late March and July 6, but none was reported between July 6 and August 24.
