The number of positive coronavirus cases in Glasgow has fallen again over the last seven days, according to the latest weekly statistics.

There were 1069 positive tests in the seven days up until November 27.

For the previous week, which the Glasgow Times reported last Tuesday, the number was 1393.

The rate per 100,000 of population, one of the measurements used by the Scottish Government when allocating council areas into lockdown levels also showed a decrease.

For the latest period available the rate was 168.8 per 100,000 population.

A week earlier it was 220 per 100,000.

However, Glasgow is still higher than the Scotish average which is 110 per 100,000 of population.

Across the city, in dozens of communities, the numbers were lower than the week before.

The city is split into more than 130 local areas. For 75 of them there were fewer positive cases recorded than in the previous week.

There was an increase in 41 communities and in 19 the number was the same.

The highest number recorded was in Toryglen/Oatlands were there were 25. One week before the highest was 36, recorded in both Dennistoun North and in Maxwell Park.

Only one other area recorded more than 20 cases for the latest week, with City Centre East having 24 positive tests.

The other areas with the highest levels were Ballieston East and Glenwood South with 18 cases, Barlanark, Glenwood North had 17, Braidfauld and Drumoyne/Shieldhall both had 16, while Kings Park North and Pollokshaws had 15 each.

The two areas were mass testing for people with no symptoms in the city showed a drop in numbers for the week compared the previous weeks.

In Pollokshields East there were 12 cases down from 20 the week before and 34 four weeks earlier.

In Dalmarnock, the other area with a testing station set up in the Emirates arena car park there were 6 cases, down from 20 the previous week and from 26 two weeks earlier.

Glasgow will remain in the highest level of lockdown, Level four, until December 11 when it will be announced whether it returns to level three or level two depending on the number of cases and  numbers of people in hospital and in intensive care.

Nicola Sturgeon will announce the weekly review of lockdown levels today but there will be no movement for the 11 areas in the highest level, including Glasgow.

While numbers are falling there are still more than 100 communities were there rate is higher than 100 per 100,000 population, shown red on the map.
