A MAN who caused a disturbance at the Borders General Hospital has been jailed for more than six months.

Jason Lowe, 39, of Hawick, pleaded guilty at Selkirk Sheriff Court to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner in the hospital’s casualty department after being taken there for treatment last month.

Sheriff Peter Paterson said he would have jailed Lowe for 240 days but reduced the sentence to 200 days due to the guilty plea.

He back-dated the sentence to November 9 when Lowe was first remanded in custody in connection with the matter.
