THE Borders has recorded 79 cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours.
The data was released by the Scottish Government at 2pm today (Thursday, December 31).
In the Borders there are currently 34 people in hospital with confirmed or suspected coronavirus. The figure is two more than yesterday's.
The highest figure was on April 9, when there were 46 in hospital.
Since March, the Borders has recorded 1,586 cases. The national total is 127,453.
Across Scotland, since the pandemic began, a total of 4,578 people have died with coronavirus listed on their death certificate.
