THE Borders has Scotland’s second highest rate of coronavirus infections, according to the latest statistics.
Figures published today (Wednesday, January 6) by Public Health Scotland state each health board’s seven-day case rate per 100,000 people.
The figures, covering the period from December 28 to January 3, show the Borders’ rate as 439.8 per 100,000. The Scottish average rate is 290.8
The five health boards with the highest case rates are NHS Dumfries and Galloway (532.0), NHS Borders (439.8), NHS Lanarkshire (361.7), NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (354.4), and NHS Ayrshire and Arran (318.4).
The lowest rate is in Orkney (4.5). On the mainland, the lowest rate is in the Highlands (178.7)
