THE Borders has recorded 21 cases of coronavirus in 24 hours.

According to Scottish Government figures released today (Thursday, January 14), since the COVID-19 pandemic began the Borders has had a total of 2,312 cases.

The number being treated in hospital remains at 41.

And for the third consecutive day, five people are in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Nationally, there have been 157,079 cases since March last year and there are currently 1,829 people in hospital across Scotland with coronavirus.

To date there have been 5,166 people in Scotland who have died with coronavirus written on their death certificate.
