A DIRECTOR at NHS Borders says he is “delighted” that ex-employees have rejoined to help with the coronavirus vaccine roll-out.
Andy Carter, director of the health board’s workforce, says that “a number of our former employees” have come back to help – and he is encouraging more to do so.
Mr Carter said: “We are delighted that a number of our former employees have rejoined their professional registers and are keen to play their part in the COVID vaccination programme.

“These registers do not automatically inform NHS Borders when a former employee re-registers.
“If you fall into this category and would be available to take part in the vaccination programme locally, please contact Edwina.cameron@borders.scot.nhs.uk
“If you are a former employee who does not wish to re-register but is keen to contribute to the NHS Borders COVID vaccination effort we would also like to hear from you as you could be deployed in a support role.

“We look forward to hearing from you.”
The vaccination programme was officially rolled out in the region on December 8.
All care home residents have received their first jab – while members of the general public started receiving their first doses in January.
