AN INTERACTIVE map reveals which areas of the Borders have been least affected by coronavirus in recent days.

The Public Health Scotland tool shows the number of cases per 100,000 population, over a seven-day period.

The Borders figures are broken down into 30 neighbourhoods.

And it shows that 11 communities have recorded between zero and two cases in the most recent seven-day period (January 17-23).

They are: Tweeddale East; Peebles South; Peebles North; Lauder; Kelso South; Galashiels West; Ettrick, Yarrow and Lilliesleaf; Coldstream; Chirnside; Cheviot West and Berwickshire Central.

Hawick West End has seen the highest rate of cases in the Borders over the seven-day period.

The area saw 18 cases recorded in the week – a rate of 545.6 per 100,000 population.

That neighbourhood is the only one in the region to have had a rate of more than 400 cases.

There are three communities which have a rate of between 200 to 399 cases.

They are Hawick Central (16 cases; rate of 378.3); Burnfoot (eight cases; rate of 268.4); Eyemouth (eight cases; rate of 228.6).
