AN INTERACTIVE Borders map shows the areas that have been least affected by coronavirus lately.

The map, set up by Public Health Scotland, shows the number of new cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 that an area has had over a seven-day period.

The latest figures – as at 4.55pm on February 8 – show the seven-day period between January 30 and February 5.

The figures show that Galashiels West, Galashiels South, Peebles North and Peebles South were among the least affected areas – having fewer than three positive cases of coronavirus in that period.

Elsewhere in the Borders, the other areas which experienced fewer than three cases were: Tweeddale West Area; Melrose and Tweedbank Area; Lauder and Area; Langlee; Kelso South; Kelso North; Jedburgh; Eyemouth; Ettrick Yarrow and Liliesleaf Area; Earlston, Stow and Clovenfords Area; Duns; Coldstream and Area; Cheviot West; Cheviot East; Burnfoot; Berwickshire East; and Berwickshire Central.

At the other end of the scale, St Boswells and Newton Area was the worst affected area in the Borders during the latest seven-day period – recording seven cases (a rate of 184.3 per 100,000).

Hawick North was the next worst affected area (six cases), followed by Galashiels North (four cases).
