FOUR people in the Borders died last week with coronavirus listed on their death certificate, new statistics show.
The National Records of Scotland (NRS) published an update today (Wednesday, February 24) at 12pm.
According to the latest data published, 39 people in the Borders have now died this year with COVID-19 registered on their death certificate.
Nationally, 290 people suffered virus-related deaths in the week ending February 21.
The Scotland figure for 2021 so far now stands at 2,652.
The Borders currently has the fourth lowest death total out of the 14 health boards in Scotland – with NHS Western Isles, NHS Shetland, and NHS Orkney all recording fewer than five COVID-related deaths this year.
