A BORDERS boy has won a competition to become one of the faces of a UK-based fashion brand.

Korben Crew, 10, is one of seven people to receive a winners’ t-shirt in the Face of Ratchet 2021 mystery parcels which launched last year.

Entered by his mum, Misty, the Tweedbank youngster will have the chance to travel to Nottingham to meet Ratchet’s founder, make his own item of tie-dye clothing, model clothing as part of the Face of Ratchet campaign and will receive a year’s supply of Ratchet Clothing.

“Korben asked us, ‘we’re actually going?’ – he’s very excited,” said Misty, a brow artist in Galashiels.

Unfortunately, Korben, who attends Tweedbank Primary School, will have to wait before he can enjoy parts of his prize due to current coronavirus restrictions.

“No one at Christmas thought we’d still be here [in lockdown],” Misty said. “[When we can go] we’ll make a wee day of it.

“It will be nice for him to have time just for him.”

For their Face of Ratchet 2021 campaign, owner of the brand, Dhillan Bhardwaj, added a special winners’ t-shirt to seven of the mystery parcels for customers to find when their orders arrived.

“Korben is most excited to make his own item of clothing and meeting Dhillan,” said Misty, “for him to go and see what’s involved [in making clothes].”

Mr Bhardwaj, 24, started the competition in 2017 and is looking forward to meeting all the winners once coronavirus restrictions ease.

He added: “Our brand very much represents individuality and expressing yourself through bright colours. I thought it [the competition] was something I could do to give back and basically thank them for it [their support].”

Misty added that she has bought Ratchet Clothing for all her family.

“They [children] have each got a jumper,” she added.

Ratchet Clothing provides a range of tie-dye clothing which is popular with celebrities such as Madonna and Rihanna.
