PEEBLES Show has been cancelled for the second year in a row due to coronavirus.

The event was supposed to be held on August 14, but last week it was decided that it will not happen.

Peebles Agricultural Society president Finlay Smith said: “Unfortunately, we still find ourselves gripped by the coronavirus pandemic and, while we can now see light at the end of the tunnel with regard to the vaccine rollout, SBC have advised that Scotland will still be operating under the tiered restrictions until the majority of the population are vaccinated.

"We are acutely aware that this will be very disappointing news just on the cusp of the easing of restrictions but we have to make sure we can hold a safe event for our committee, judges, stewards, members, exhibitors and of course the many visitors we receive from Peebles and the surrounds on the day.

"We are also planning online events both leading up to the show day and on show day itself – keep an eye on our Facebook page for regular updates."

Organisers are hopeful that Peebles Show will return to Nether Horsburgh on August 13, 2022.
