CORONAVIRUS tests for people without symptoms are being offered in Peeblesshire again from today.

In a press release issued by NHS Borders last week, the health board outlined plans for rapid testing sites to return across the region.

Tests will be offered in West Linton today (Friday, April 16) and tomorrow.

COVID testing will also return in Peebles (April 17-19) and Innerleithen (April 18 and 19) over the weekend.

Testing will take place at the fire stations of all the above locations between 10.30am-3pm.

NHS Borders’ director of public health, Dr Tim Patterson, said: “Community testing of those who feel well and do not have any typical COVID-19 symptoms is one of the key ways that we can keep each other safe. Around a third of people with COVID-19 show no symptoms so it is important that we identify these individuals and support them to self-isolate, therefore breaking the chains of transmission.

“We would encourage anyone in these towns to consider getting a rapid COVID-19 test, even if you have had one previously. It takes about five minutes to get tested using a lateral flow device and your results will be sent to you by text message.”

Other places offering 'no symptoms' testing next week are: Coldstream (Tuesday and Wednesday), Duns (Thursday and Friday), Eyemouth (Saturday and Monday) and Galashiels' Queens Centre (Saturday and Monday).
