CORONAVIRUS testing kits will be available at a Borders site from Monday (April 26) for people without symptoms.
The Scottish Borders Chamber of Commerce made the announcement on Friday (April 23).
The lateral flow home test kits can be picked up at Langlee Community Centre on Marigold Drive, Galashiels, between 3.30pm and 8pm from Monday.
A chamber spokesperson said: “People are encouraged to use these kits to test themselves twice-weekly.
“The expansion is aimed at finding cases that would otherwise go undetected, so those people can self-isolate and avoid transmitting the virus to those around them.”
Meanwhile, NHS Borders will be offering free, rapid COVID-19 tests at fire stations this week in:
- Newcastleton – April 27 and 28
- Kelso – April 27 and 28
- Jedburgh – April 29 and 30
- Peebles – April 29 and 30
- Lauder – May 1 and 3
- Selkirk – May 1 and 3
Testing is available for anyone who lives, works or volunteers in the Borders and is not currently showing COVID-19 symptoms.
