NHS Borders has confirmed the target date for when everyone in the region will have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine.

The local health board issued a statement on the vaccine rollout on Tuesday (May 11).

And in the statement, NHS Borders announced that the aim is still to have offered and vaccinated the entire adult population "by the end of July, depending on supply".

A spokesperson added: “Appointments for those aged 40-49 have been scheduled. If you are in this group you will receive your vaccination appointment letter via post in the next few days.”

A total of 68,000 people have received the first dose of a coronavirus vaccine in the Borders, the health board says, with second doses having been delivered to 34,000 people.

Nicky Berry, director of nursing and operations, said: “It is really important that you come forward to get vaccinated when it is your turn.

“This includes coming forward for your second dose to ensure that you have lasting protection against COVID-19.”
