A GALASHIELS man has admitted repeatedly spitting on a police vehicle during the coronavirus pandemic.

Simon Hadden, 43, was also banging on the inside of the vehicle, shouting and swearing, uttering threats of violence and acting in an aggressive manner.

He pleaded guilty at Selkirk Sheriff Court to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner in a police vehicle en route to St Leonards Police Station in Edinburgh and in Woodstock Avenue, Galashiels, on April 20.

Hadden, of Hawthorn Road, also admitted obstructing police officers by struggling with them and resisting their application of handcuffs.

Sentence was deferred until June 14 for the production of a Criminal Justice Social Work Report.
