A BORDERS shop has been described as "hellish" and "a disgrace".
The Boots store in Melrose came under fire during the town's community council meeting last week.
Butcher Martin Baird said the Market Square chemist shop was “awful” and “a disgrace”, saying work needed to be done to tidy up its exterior.
Community councillor Graham Barker said: “A while ago I went onto Boots’ website to complain about the cleanliness inside the store.
“I sent off an email, but it goes to the headquarters which is in Nottingham.
“I am sorry to say it has not made a difference.”

William Windram, the chairman of Melrose Community Council, suggested the group should write to the company.
He added: “I think it will be better to send a letter from the community council, rather than from individuals.
“We can tell them we are concerned about the interior and exterior.”
A spokesperson for Boots told the Border Telegraph: “At Boots UK, we want to make sure that our stores are enjoyable places to shop.
“We recognise that our store in Melrose is in need of some attention, which is why we are due to start renovations on the front of the store soon.”
