CASES of the new Delta coronavirus variant have been recorded in the Borders, according to the region’s health board.
The NHS announced the news on social media today (Saturday, June 12).
The statement said: “There are cases of the Delta variant circulating in the Borders.
“You must self-isolate immediately and book a PCR test if you, or someone in your household, have symptoms or have been asked to by Test & Protect.
“Self-isolation means staying at home all the time, with no other households coming inside.
“[When self-isolating] Don't pop to the shops, even if you're wearing a face covering. Don't go to school or nursery. Don't let people come into your home to bring shopping or look after children. Don't take the dog for a walk.”
Scottish Government figures released yesterday (Friday) show 2,984 cases of coronavirus have been recorded in the region since the start of the pandemic.
