A SCOTTISH international rugby star has admitted a careless driving offence near Peebles.

Twenty-four-year-old Blair Kinghorn was originally accused of dangerous driving on the A703 road to Eddleston on June 9 last year.

But he pleaded guilty at Selkirk Sheriff Court to the lesser charge of careless driving by overtaking when it was unsafe to do so and cause motorists coming in the opposite direction to take evasive action.

The full back has been capped 25 times for Scotland and plays for Edinburgh in the Guinness Pro 14.

Kinghorn, who gave an address in Edinburgh, was fined £400 and had his licence endorsed with four penalty points.
