A WOMAN fled from a Borders house in her bare-feet and carrying a baby after being involved in a bust-up with her partner.

Twenty-four-year-old Liam Skinner pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at a house in Scott Crescent, Hawick, on March 27.

Jedburgh Sheriff Court was told the couple had been in a relationship for three years and had a baby.

But the woman described the relationship as "stormy" as Skinner had "a temper."

She said he would slam doors and punch walls if things upset him.

On the day of the offence the woman had asked Skinner to help with the feeding of the baby which irritated the accused.

She also spoke about their relationship and said he needed to contribute more.

Skinner began shouting at her to get out of the way and became aggressive towards his partner.

He then told her to get out of the house and the woman decided to do so with the baby as she was scared for her safety.

Neighbours were woken up by the noise and witnessed the woman running down the street in her bare-feet carrying a baby.

They told police that disruptive behaviour by the accused was a regular occurrence in the street.

Defence lawyer Ross Dow said the relationship had now come to an end.

Sheriff Peter Paterson ordered Skinner to carry out 60 hours unpaid work as an alternative to a fine.

He also imposed a Non-Harassment Order which means Skinner cannot have any contact with his former partner for two years.

He was also ordered to stay out of Wellington Court, Wilton Path and Carnarvon Street in Hawick.
