MORE than £1,000 has been raised to help add a splash of colour to Galashiels.
Over the past few weeks a number of planters have arrived in the town as part of the project launched by Galashiels Community Council.
And local Girl Guides have also been lending a hand by planting at the Interchange.
Marion Romeril from the group said: “Because I’m on the community council, I heard about the plan.
“Our Guides have been cooped up so we have taken the chance to get outside.

“It was hard to find something to do that was within the restrictions, but they have absolutely loved this.
“The girls have done a lot of work and we have also had the parents helping too.
“It has been a real community effort.”
A total of £1,342 has been raised so far to go towards the upkeep of the planters.
