THE Borders has recorded more than 60 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, recent data shows.

According to figures released today (July 7) by the Scottish Government, 61 people in the Borders have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 3,891.

There remain fewer than five people in the hospital in the Borders with confirmed cases of the virus.

Across Scotland there are now 303,647 people who have tested positive for coronavirus since March 2020.

And nationally, there are 387 people in hospital with the virus.
