THE Borders has recorded 60 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, recent data shows.

According to figures released today (July 8) by the Scottish Government, the total number of positive cases since the start of the pandemic now stands at 3,951.

There remain fewer than five people in the hospital in the Borders with confirmed cases of the virus.

Across Scotland there are now 306,449 people who have tested positive for coronavirus since March 2020.

And nationally, there are 401 people in hospital with the virus.
