DONCASTER ROVERS manger Richie Wellens has praised Peebles’ hospitality after his players enjoyed two days in the town training and team bonding.

The EFL League One club stayed at the Cardrona Hotel where, as a group, they watched England’s defeat to Italy in the final of the European Championships on Sunday night.

The following day, the players trained at the Whitestone Park, the home of Peebles Rovers, before enjoying a round of golf.

Boss Wellens told us: “We want to thank Peebles Rovers for hosting us over the weekend.

“The hospitality we received from the staff at the club was second-to-none and the quality of the pitch was very impressive and allowed us to get in some work with the football as well as fitness.

“We had a great time and it got us away as a group which is exactly what we wanted to achieve. I think the golf course went down well with the lads too.”
