THE Borders has recorded 26 new cases of coronavirus in the last day, new figures show.

Updated statistics on case numbers were published by the Scottish Government at 2pm today (July 22).

According to the latest figures, the Borders has now recorded 4,389 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.

There are five people in hospital in the Borders with recently confirmed cases of the virus. There were seven yesterday, according to the figures.

Scotland has now seen 335,966 coronavirus cases since March last year, the new data shows, and there are currently 488 people in hospital nationwide.
