THERE are 10 people in hospital in the Borders with recently confirmed cases of coronavirus, according to an official update.

According to Scottish Government data released at 2pm today (August 11), three new hospital patients were reported in the region over a 24-hour period, bringing the current total to 10.

This is the highest number of coronavirus patients in the Borders since February 17, 2021 – when the region recorded 12 patients by this measure.

In addition to the three new hospital patients, over the last 24 hours the Borders also recorded 20 new positive coronavirus cases.

The latest data shows that since the start of the pandemic the Borders has reported 4,659 cases of coronavirus.

Since March 2020 Scotland has recorded 357,917 cases of COVID-19.

And nationally there are currently 356 people in hospital with recently confirmed cases of coronavirus.
