THE SELKIRK Committee for Cancer Research UK’s annual Ladies Lunch at The Woll has again been cancelled this year.

However, the group has suggested an alternative option – asking people to hold their own between Friday, September 3 and Friday, September 10.

It could be a simple soup and cheese lunch, a picnic, a liquid lunch or a formal meal. No tickets would be required, just donations.

The committee also plans to have a raffle around that time, and this will be drawn on Sunday, September 12 at Selkirk’s Peony Rose Coffee House.

A statement from the group reads: “Anyone considering hosting a lunch and who would like to sell raffle tickets at it, the committee would be happy to supply and collect tickets. However, there is no obligation to take them.

“Similarly, if anyone would like raffle tickets without hosting a lunch then please do get in touch. All the prizes will be tokens and vouchers, and the ticket price is £1 each, in books of five.

“The CRUK committee hopes that the idea of Ladies' Little Lunches will appeal, and believe they could be a lot of fun. This has been a tough time for Cancer Research UK to raise funds for the vital research it supports. If you are interested, or would like more information please email crukselkirk@gmail.com or ring 01750 21616.”
