The Lowland League fixture between Gala Fairydean Rovers and the University of Stirling, which was due to take place on Saturday, has been postponed due to COVID issues.

An unspecified number of first team players are understood to have tested positive.

The fixture was initially due to have taken place at Netherdale but was changed to accommodate the Maroon’d Festival which takes place tomorrow at both rugby and football stadiums.

A deep cleaning procedure has taken place in the stadium and the planned events which include walking football, women’s football and disability football are due to go ahead as scheduled.

A statement issued on the club’s social media sites stated: “Unfortunately our Lowland League away match to University of Stirling tomorrow has been postponed due positive COVID-19 cases in the club's squad.

“The health and well-being of players and staff are priority and we wish everyone affected a speedy recovery.”
