MORE than 50 local organisations and businesses are directly involved in the forthcoming Vittoria Enduro World Series (EWS) in Innerleithen.

According to organisers, local musicians, food vendors, clubs and charities are all participating.

And this figure does not include many of the hospitality businesses, Airbnbs and High Street shops that are set to reap the benefits of the incoming visitors.

The Vittoria EWS Tweed Valley, which runs from September 29 to October 3, will be held in the fields just beyond the Red Bull car park on Traquair Road, with mountain bike racing taking place in the nearby forests of Traquair and Caberston.

Jamie Rogers of the Traquair Arms said: “The event comes at a great time for us, right at the end of the summer, bridging the gap into the fishing season.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming visitors from all across the world into the hotel that week, treating them to some great Scottish food, drink and hospitality.”

The event will be the biggest celebration of international mountain biking in the UK, encompassing international elite athlete races, amateur racing, and kids’ races.

“The Festival Village, at the heart of the event, will have something for everyone, not just bikers,” said Paul McGreal, the event director.

“Live local music, films, displays, kids entertainment, local food and drink, plus a host of adventure brands and the Race Paddock to explore.

“We hope to see the local community there, enjoying the festivities alongside the professional race teams and bike fans.”

Organisers are also due to launch their Fringe Event tickets, which include a film night, ride-outs, a kids’ skills event, a heritage walk, yoga programme and some other exclusive activities courtesy of the local community, their ideas and their enthusiasm for the event.

The event is supported by Event Scotland, Scottish Borders Council and South of Scotland Enterprise.
