THE Borders has recorded more than 40 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, according to the latest figures.

The Scottish Government published updated statistics on cases at 2pm today (September 23).

And the new figures show the Borders saw 47 new cases of COVID-19 over the past day.
This brings the total number of cases in the region since the start of the pandemic to 7,253.

There are 17 people in hospital in the region with recently confirmed cases of coronavirus – this figure stood at 21 yesterday.

Since March last year, Scotland has now 546,426 cases, according to the figures.
