A BORDERS woman involved in two bust-ups with her former partner has been fined £180 at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.

Nora Clancy, who is 42 and of Hawick, was also ordered to pay £50 compensation towards the damage she caused by breaking a window at David Glen's home in Lothian Street, Hawick, on March 6.

She pleaded guilty to breaking the window by punching it and eight days later assaulting her former partner by slapping him on the head in High Street, Hawick.

Depute fiscal Alison Atkins said that at 10pm in the evening on March 6 the complainer was in his property when he heard banging on his kitchen window.

She added: "He looked out and saw Clancy punching the window."

The fiscal added the assault happened in the middle of the day in the High Street.

Defence lawyer Ed Hulme said his client had been trying to get Mr Glen's attention by banging on the window but had done it too hard and had crossed the line.

He added the assault happened after a shop door was closed on her hand and she reacted.

Mr Hulme said the relationship between the couple was now over.

Clancy was also told to pay a £10 Victim Surcharge.
