THE Borders recorded more than 140 new cases of coronavirus over the weekend, figures show.

According to Scottish Government data released at 2pm today (Monday, October 11) since Friday (October 8) the number of positive cases in the Borders rose by 143 from 7,887 to 8,030.

The number of people in hospital in the Borders with confirmed COVID-19 currently stands at eight – this figure fell from 13 on Friday.

Since March 2020 Scotland has recorded 592,721 cases of COVID-19.

And nationally there are currently 9331,001 people in hospital with recently confirmed cases of coronavirus.
