A number of Borders clubs are in action tomorrow (Saturday 16 October 2021) in the second round of the South Challenge Cup.

The annual knockout cup competition for senior non-league clubs in the central and southern regions of Scotland has increased in size from 142 to a record 161 teams this year thanks to the inclusion of additional clubs from the East of Scotland Football League and West of Scotland Football League.

The defending champions are Dunipace, who beat Broomhill 3–1 in the delayed final of the 2019–20 edition on 15 August 2021.

Gala Fairydean Rovers also face a difficult away game against Whitburn who currently sit in fourth place in the East of Scotland Conference League. Gala have also been in good form lately and were unfortunate to lose to a late goal against Civil Service Strollers on Saturday.

Elsewhere Peebles Rovers face a difficult away tie against fellow East of Scotland League Conference Division B side Preston Athletic at Pennypit Park in Prestonpans.

Athletic currently sit second in the table one point behind Glenrothes but with a game in hand.  Peebles Rovers are currently in 8th position but have been in good form of late and were unfortunate not to take all three points last weekend against Edinburgh South.

Berwick Rangers fresh from their 11-0 win over Vale of Leithen host Broxburn Athletic whilst Coldstream entertain Tweedmouth Rangers.

Hawick Royal Albert have an away tie against Ormiston.

Winners will qualify for the third round where 64 teams will compete in 32 fixtures on Saturday 20 November 2021.
