THE Fjordhus Reivers Ladies 1s were back in action against Grange 1s on Saturday.

Reivers started off well, creating many great opportunities in the 1st quarter, which resulted in an early goal from Jessica Main.

In the 2nd quarter, Reivers again had opportunities, but intensity dropped and the ball ‘ping-ponged’ up and down the pitch allowing Grange to put pressure on the Fjordhus defence.

There were short corners, in the 2nd quarter for both teams, Reivers with the first one, thanks to some great passing from Rhona Gowans in the back line, through to Molly Darling, in midfield line, who was there to receive the ball and carry into the D, with the ball hitting a Grange player’s foot.

Grange then had multiple short corner opportunities, just on the half time whistle. But thanks to more great defensive work by Reivers players, Reivers were still 1-0 ahead at half time.

The 3rd quarter, saw Grange get back into the game, this determination resulting in a goal, seven minutes in.

They also had two more, short corners in the quarter but these were once again well defended by Reivers players Chloe Richardson, Emily Newlands, and Emma Pate to ensure, Grange didn’t go ahead.

In the 4th quarter, Reivers, came back onto the pitch looking eager to prove a point. They had some great opportunities, with the energy levels of the whole team increasing, resulting in a short corner for Reivers.

After a few missed opportunities, Reivers capitalised on the opportunity and a quick pass from Emma Pate to Chloe Richardson, saw Chloe do what she does best and score a fabulous goal.

With only five-minutes remaining, Grange got themselves an important short corner. With some great defensive work by Reivers again, Grange just managed to flick the ball over many Fjordhus Reivers sticks and score the final goal of the game.

This meant the match ended 2-2. Overall some great, quick and skilful hockey by the Reivers Ladies who now sit second in the League.
