THE Borders has seen a rise in cases of coronavirus over the weekend, new data shows.

Updated figures were published by the Scottish Government at 2pm today (December 6).

And the new data shows that the region saw 109 cases over the weekend, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to 11,202.

Over the weekend Public Health Scotland were aware of a data reporting issue for results from the UK Government Pillar 2 lab tests. The issue was resolved, however, this could represent increased figures for today due to the backlog of cases being processed.

There are currently 10 people in hospital in the Borders with recently confirmed cases of COVID-19, according to the figures.

On Friday, there were 11 people in hospital.

Scotland has now recorded 743,496 cases since March last year.
